Welcome  to First Presbyterian Church of Dallas
Family Faith Formation Resources

  • Are you interested in family faith practices but don't know where to start?
  • Do you wonder about new books to read to your children or encourage them to read?
  • Would you like to share weekly Video StoryTime with your child?
  • Are you looking for guidance and affirmation related to faith and parenting?
Faith formation begins at home. You are the primary nurturers of children's faith.  These resources are an  effort to provide resources and links in a space where you can explore on your time.

Church in the ways of Worship, Sunday School, music, mission opportunities, and relationships is also foundational in Christian faith formation, of course. The FPC website provides details on those opportunities which are provided regularly.

What is Faith Formation anyway?

Faith formation is equipping people to live as disciples of Jesus- Leif Kehrwald of Vibrant Faith Ministries

In his book, Generations Together, John Roberto reaffirms a traditional, but very rich notion that faith formation informs, forms, and transforms the person—whether child, youth, or adult—into a robust, vital, and life-giving Christian faith that is holistic: a way of the head, the heart, and the hands.

Roberto says, “ faith formation seeks to help people:
  • Grow in their relationship with God for the whole of life
  • Live as disciples of Jesus at home, at work, in the community, and in the world
  • Develop an understanding of the Bible and their faith tradition
  • Deepen their spiritual life and practices
  • Engage in service and mission to the world
  • Participate in the life and ministries of their faith community
So, faith formation may indeed occur at the parish picnic or on the gym floor, but it has little to do with eating hot dogs or sinking baskets, and whole lot to do with forming disciples. DO WHAT MATTERS! "
